To help you start the new financial year right, we're doing things a little differently for this Basic talk. We've brought together a panel of 3 inspiring business owners to help you build financial literacy, understand your legal obligations and wrap your head around business planning and management. Come and get your business and life in order with:
Fiona Killackey (Business Coach)
Fiona is a business consultant and coach and the founder of My Daily Business Coach a consultancy that provides business consulting, 1:1 coaching, branding + marketing workshops and creative ideation. Before starting her business, Fiona worked globally for an impressive array of clients and employers; such as Amazon, MIMCO, Portable Studios, Audible UK, Fairfax, Monocle, Refinery29, The Design Files, The Age, Russh and Frankie (to name a few!).
Julie Doyle (Bookkeeper)
Julie and her team work with businesses to ensure they are compliant at all levels of business – Financial, HR & OH&S. This includes building up accounts to trial balance and working with business owners so that they understand their financials; developing HR Policies and Processes as they grow and making sure workplaces and practices are OH&S considerate.
Laura Vickers (Lawyer)
Laura is the founder of wills and conveyancing firm Nest Legal, which helps busy folk sort their legal needs as easily as possible. She has won several national innovation awards and was featured as one of Australia’s pioneering women lawyers in the Trailblazing Women and the Law Project. Laura also runs NewLaw Chambers, a Facebook group of innovative lawyers supporting each other to practice law differently.

We'll kick the evening off with a few questions and then open up the discussion, inviting the audience to ask the speakers their own questions. No question is "dumb" at Basic, we encourage the most simple of questions to the most complex. If you'd prefer not to speak on the night, you can submit a question beforehand and we'll ask it for you.
There will be an honesty bar (cash only) selling beers from Sample, wines from Blackhearts & Sparrows and water by Antipodes. 50% of bar profits will be donated to Free to Feed.
